Pleasure Island, NC

Pleasure Island is located on the southern point of North Carolina, just 15 miles south from downtown Wilmington. To the east is the Atlantic Ocean, the Cape Fear River is to the west, Corncake Inlet is to the south and Snows Cut (the intracoastal waterway) is on the north side. Pleasure Island was created in 1930 by the dredging of Snow's Cut.

The island is only about 2 miles wide and about 10 miles long. The towns in Pleasure Island are Kure Beach to the south of the bridge and Carolina Beach, in the center of the island.
While the town of Carolina Beach is a thriving community with grocery stores, drug stores, boutique shops, hardware stores, a movie theater, library, and many restaurants, the northern part of Pleasure Island still has its natural beauty.
